My Hiking Journal tracks my goal of changing my life as I move from being almost 240 pounds to being fit enough to hike the Inca Trail and up Huayna Picchu.

The longest day of hiking on the Machu Picchu Inn to Inn trek is 11 miles. While being ready for the trip will involve multiple levels of fitness, the ability to walk 11 miles without stroking-out seems pretty important.

This blog will serve as my journal for each hike I make as I move from the couch to the Inca Trail. Early hikes were on roads and bike trails.  Now that we are finally hiking on real trails a link to that trail will be provided as well as trailhead information.

  1. Good luck man. I’m doing a similar thing. Feels great to have a plan and start the journey towards completing it. Keep it up.

  2. great goal! i just want to keep the horrors of poor health at bay, so i decided to do at least 2 miles a day, every day. started 1 january, and i’m over the 100-mile mark already. it’s easier than i imagined.

    don’t give up. you can do this, if i can!
